What are the odds of winning a PCSO Lottery Using your favorite number combinations!
A lot of people have been betting on the Philippine lottery since the draws began in the 1990's. Some have been taking care of numbers taken from Birthdays, anniversaries, bank account etc. for several years now with the hope of one day being the lucky winner.
But what are the chances of your numbers being drawn in the lottery? I will teach you you how to compute your chances in winning the lottery. Knowing your chances will help you decide on wether you will still take care of those numbers or to find another system to win the lottery.
Lets take the 6/55 draw for example. In the 6/55 draw you choose 6 numbers out of 55 numbers as your bet.
Thus when draw time comes when the first ball comes out of the machine your numbers will have 1 in 55 chances of being drawn or 1/55.
When the second ball comes out you have a 1 in 54 chance that your numbers will come out or 1/54.
When the third ball comes out you have a 1 in 53 chances thatr your numbers will come out or 1/53.
When the forth ball comes out you have a 1 in 52 chances that your numbers will come out. or 1/52.
When the fifth ball comes out you have a 1 in 51 chances that your numbers will come out or 1/51.
When the 6th ball comes out you have a 1 in 50 chances that your numbers will come out or 1/50.
Now get your calculators and compute.
To put this in a mathematical equation you have to multiply the odds of each ball coming out.
1/55 x 1/54 x 1/53 x1/52 x 1/51 x 1/50= 1/20872566000.
Since in a 6/55 draw you can choose your winnings in any order you further better your chance of winning the lottery. Your chances improves based on the number of ways that the 6 balls can be drawn in any order or 6 factorial written down as 6! or 6x5x4x3x2x1=720
Now divide 20872566000/720=28,989,675. Your chance of winning the 6/55 draw is 1 in 28,989,675.
Meaning any 6 number combination will have 1 in 28,989,675 chance of being drawn every draw. It would be safe to say that if 28,989675 people held just one unique number combination for every draw for any given draw night you are competing with 28,989,675 people for whom only one jackpot winner will be chosen.
To further understand what 1 in 28,989,675 chance mean in terms of betting on a single number combination each and every draw day. Think how long would it take for your number combination to be drawn. Lets say that we live in a perfect world and that each of the number combination will be drawn one by one until all 28,989,965 have been drawn.
